Awareness is the key to not becoming a victim. Predators prey on unsuspecting individuals who are not paying attention to their surroundings. Always look in all directions especially when walking alone.  If your walking in a parking lot be aware of the spacing between vehicles and the distance a predator may have if he is hiding between parked vehicles.  Use your senses to look and listen while paying attention to the unusual.

When shopping, use a money clip and keep your credit cards separate. Chances are, criminals will target your billfold when they see cash. So instead of having your entire wallet or purse targeted for theft, you may only be at risk of having your cash stolen.

If you're out in public and a criminal attacks, you are much more likely to get attention from others if you yell, "FIRE!" instead of, "HELP!"  And keep screaming to increase your chances that the criminal will flee to avoid detection.
